Looks like someone missed "the Lord's answer"...SEND US JOHN THE BAPTIST |
The only equivalent to that kind of crazy in our day and age would have to be the late Rev. Fred Phelps of Kansas. He often wore a cowboy hat and leather boots. He lived in Kansas...a wilderness of sorts and I bet he ate pot roast and gravy every other day.
There's little doubt that Fred the Baptist preached 'hell fire and damnation' at least to the gays of the world. Freddy didn't seem to care if gays repented or not. I think he relished in the belief that every gay person in the world would eventually suffer eternal torment without God.
I bet my Christian friend would be offended by this cartoon. He probably would argue that John the Baptist and Fred the Baptist have nothing in common. He would see John as a true man of God and Fred as a misguided false prophet or just an overly zealous fundamentalist.
I would argue that Johnny and Freddy where cut from the same religious cloth. Both men were 'crazy for God'.
